People like you take things out of context. When was it exactly that you stepped out of the fire station and "a fire captain"? Thank you. I will shot the face if I feel it is an important part of the story. Sometimes it can't be avoided. In this story the deceased and the injured were both identified in print and TV. That's not my call. Here the only thing the HIPPA law really does is not allowing patient updates after transport without that info coming from the Fire or PD PIO. I do stay out of the way and have never been asked to leave a scene.

I agree this is a public place also that things like this can be good training tools. However when there is a patient in the video especially in your case the face was very visible then I think you are violating that persons privacy. You have the right to be there unless personnel tells you to vacate. I honestly have no ill will toward you or what you did to a point. I didn't mean to say what you do or did is illegal but patients identity should be protected whether a law tells us to or not.

it is good to have someone to video all this; for many reasons, people in general should see these kinds of things; forces people think more about how life and death is a fine line; you raise a good point about being in a public place.

You maybe an EMT, but you do not know journalism law. No federal laws have been violated. Anyone with a camera can record/tape anything that happens in a public place. This case a state hwy. I've been doing this for 20 years. Law enforcement and the various fire agencies appreciate what I do. They are provided free copies of these events. This footage aired on all four network affilates and will be used in other upcoming cable network programs. Thank you for being an EMT.

I am surprised that you posted this video considering that this is a major violation of state and federal hippa privacy laws. I regards to the not video taping the dead i agree but what about not video taping the living? do you have no respect? I shure would not want to be video taped in that situation! And don't think that I don't know how it is, I am an EMT and a trained extrication person.

Not the Ford Pickup's first rodeo... It's been wrecked before! Note there are no Manf. Decals on the inside edge of the driver's door...! Funny thing about 'crumple zones' on a car... Once they've absorbed impact in a wreck, they don't absorb as much in a 2nd wreck!

the policemen sometimes have to go through and inventory the contents of the vehicles on bad wrecks and sometimes the contents may be covered in blood or other body fluids

they learn from American teenageers. with all the American teens creating hovoc for normal people crashes happen quite often Amreican teens are very rude too I was on a bus and a teen sat next to me which obviosly detroyed my day.
