Well we are in agreement in most points, because that's is exactly what I've been saying all along. There are many variables that decide the outcome in air combat. The Saegheh is purely a ground attack jet, while the F-18 is multi-role. But don't discount the Iranian's capabilities. If they were as "weak" as many here assume, the US or Israel would have attacked long ago, and many in the high US military command feel that success against Iran's defenses are very slim. They are NOT Iraq!

well we are not comparing SAAF to IIRAF that analogy was stating the Saegheh may be made for the same mission of ground attack but has nowhere near the capabilites of an F-18 No aircraft is "always win in a engagement". Air combat depends on SO many variables. It is NEVER a case of aircraft A v aircraft B with both aircraft completely independent of any supporting systems.

It would be ridiculous to compare South Africa's air force with Iran's. That's why your analogy doesn't have any logic to it. Sorry. I reiterate that just because an airframe may resemble a much older aircraft, it doesn't mean it's systems are not modernized. Look at the Indian Air Force's MiG-21 Bison. A 50 year old design, yet modernized to the point of being able to engage, and shootdown jets like the F-16, and F-15C, and that's according to pilots from the USAF, not claims from India.

well first off, F-16/F-15E are ground aircraft ,with exceptionally air to air capabilites two Iran has been optimistically compared with the US F/A-18 fighter, but yet no reiable information exsist to support this claim it's like the the South African Air Force stating that atlas cheetah has equal capabilities to the F-15E when the F-15E has nearly 3 times the weapons load and range

Cut the Iranians some slack people! Just because externally this jet may look "old", doesn't mean it's avionics, and weapon systems are. You won't see it dogfighting, or in BVR engagements against F-16s or F-15Es because this is a GROUND attack fighter. It is also to provide close support to troops, tank battalions, etc. It's not for "air superiority" roles. That chore is for their MiG-29 SMTs, and SU-30s.

honestly this is stupid , the only thing i see is : an old american jet fighter F-5 , if you want to design and build somthing , dont use other countrys aircrafts and put stupid none sens stuff on it !!! i heard china and india and lots of countrys designe and build NEW aircrafts unlike this iran is using usa aircrafts and claiming its new build , well they must give iran an invention patent for this unknown !!! aircraft lol . real silly and stupid

And not only that but also all kind of comlicated industrial equipments such as submarines, boats, cars, trucks and lots of other things which was on the hand of so called developed countries. it takes time but on right direction.
