Description: Ever wonder how to recover lost passwords? Wonder how strong your passsword is? Or how someone could steal it? Or are you tired of people who say you can do it with a TI-84? This video will show you how YOU can crack a Windows password with almost no effort at all! The end also contains some simple tips on how to protect yourself from someone doing this to you. There are more methods than shown here including using LiveCD versions of Linux (like Auditor Security Collection), bootable USB drives, network sniffing, or gaining access to your harddrive directly and stealing the password hashes. Programs used: LoginRecovery Boot Floppy and L0phtCrack5 (LC5) Computer used: 2.21 GHz AMD Athlon X2 4200+ with 2GB of RAM Password info: 7 characters (6 letters, 1 number) Crack time: 00:53:45

Just as an after thought. There are CD versions of LoginRecovery as well as LiveCD solutions (Ophcrack) available. This just happened to work well and for what I had needed it for at the time.
I get this comment a lot. Any SMART user first of all knows about this loophole, AND knows that you can set a password for that account so you need a password EVEN IN SAFE MODE. Also, on the "Pro" versions of Windows XP, the account you set up on install is also the one used in safe mode, and, if I remember correctly, you are required to supply a password for that account as well. To quote you: "lolololololololollolololololo l oolollolol"
Ancient you say? At the time of this video, MY computer was an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, and now it is an AMD Phenom X4 9850. Same case, new hardware. Just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover, nor a PC by it's case. I custom build my own PCs, and recycle the old case, no point getting a new case when the current one works just fine. Next time, think or ask before you speak.
Second.
hahaahha floppy
lol u take lots of time just go on admin acc go to controll pannell and go tousers and change passes lolololololololollolololololol oolollolol
wowo u cps are fucken ANCIENT!!
My current preferred method is actually Ophcrack LiveCDs at the moment. But this method is GREAT for doing MANY accounts at once, and for guaranteed success at the expense of time. Ophcrack is great, but will NOT get EVERY password. Rainbow Tables are fast, but the will never be as complete as a good ol' Brute Force. All the methods of protection listed are still valid for ANY physical access, password hash stealing method.
well there are better ways to do it, but you can use a bootable CD/DVD as well or flash drive
Neither do I... I just got rid of mine. However, LoginRecovery has a CD version (you have to write down the hashes), and there is always Ophcrack...
lol, dude no-one still has a floppy drive
They will be able to steal the hashes with the LoginRecovery disk, but could only crack the hashes with a computer they have access to (to run LC5). HOWEVER, Ophcrack would be able to do it all right there, but it is only 99% successful.
what i mean is if im not home and my friends are over. they turn on my computer they dont no the password to my computer which only has one account does it still work?
I'm not exactly sure of what you meant... But even if there is only one account on your computer, yes this will still work... It will work if there are a million.
Ophcrack.
wait can ppl say like a friends hack into my pc if there is only one account which is mine can they still do it?
My VAIO doesnt have a floppy drive! Help me!
Try comparing the hashes for YOUR OWN computer grabbed by the LoginRecovery disk to the hashes LC5 can grab directly from the SAM file. (You will need to have LC5 show the columns for the hashes manually, as they do not show by default). Other than that, I can't help you. Every version of LoginRecovery changes the hash format. If you keep having problems, just use Ophcrack.
How could it? It leaves no traces. It doesn't even mount the hard drive as writable. It only reads (and saves) the hashes off the hard drive. Nothing more. It couldn't hurt the computer... unless the floppy drive decides to burst into flames when you use it...
does this damage your computer(the one which has the password)?
could you write for example these different two hashes >>I ve got this txt file and dont know how can I make an LC readable one
Thankyou
Good music taste!!! ;)
You will have to figure this out yourself, unfortunately. Every version of the LoginRecovery disks uses a different format. The trick I used is to compare the hashes in the LoginRecovery disk for your computer to the hashes that LC5 can import on its own. Then make the LoginRecovery disk's hashes look like the ones you got in LC5 by deleting the extra "crap" they add in. With my experience, you should be able to delete the same things in any other hash gathered with the LoginRecovery disk.
what is the format converted too?
