It's legendary Delta II explosion in 1997 with GPS-2R satellite. Sounds funny with this music, because part of Czajkowski's 1812 Overture is anthem of the Russian Empire :D

one of the most expensive fireworks shows of all time. The thing is, I think this was an "intentional" explosion. Well, intentional in the sense that the range safety ordinance detonated the rocket. Everything they launch (even the shuttle) has a self-destruct capability that is triggered if the thing starts going off course. I'm pretty sure it's a manual system on the shuttle, but I think it was automatic (or at least computer-controlled) here. They should totally do this at night.
